Author Guidelines

Mercados y Negocios welcomes submissions that aim to contribute to knowledge through research papers on markets and competitiveness-oriented business.

Mercados y Negocios does not charge authors for submitting manuscripts or for publishing articles (No APC—Article Processing Charges).

Papers must be original, which is why Turnitin (or its equivalent) is used both at the beginning of the submission and before publication in Mercados y Negocios. Did not use any AI tools in creating texts, images, figures, tables, and/or translations in the submission.

The author undertakes that their submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).

The same author can publish up to one article per issue at most once yearly.

The author is requested to indicate their ORCID identifier. Authors are specified in the OJS metadata. In case they do not have it yet, they can obtain it at the following link:

https://orcid.org/register

Paper must be uploaded anonymously.

Papers should be submitted in 1.2 lines of space with Times New Roman font size 12 and 2.5 cm of space for margins and in letter-size paper format through the OJS (Open Journal System).

The article title should be in both English and Spanish and be fewer than 15 words.

The abstract, both in English and Spanish, should be approximately 250 words each and contain the objective, a method to achieve it, primary results, and the most important conclusions.

Keywords should be included in both English and Spanish, separated by semicolons (;).

The Jel code should also be included based on the following link:

https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php

The paper should be a minimum of 15 pages and a maximum of 30 pages, including tables, graphs, and notes.

Tables and graphs should be constructed directly in Word in grayscale, avoiding the insertion of the same text in image format, which causes editing problems and detracts from the clarity of the content.

Mercados y Negocios accepts scholarly contributions in English and Spanish. English submissions are recommended to facilitate international peer review; however, manuscripts in Spanish are also accepted. Once accepted, all research articles will include a title, an abstract, and keywords in both English and Spanish. When applicable, the editorial team may support the preparation of bilingual versions of the publication.

The use of Grammarly is permitted for translation and writing improvements.

The paper should have the following structure: title (English/Spanish), abstract (English/Spanish), keywords (English/Spanish), Jel code, introduction, theory, development, methodological analysis, discussion, conclusions, bibliography, references, and annexes.

The citation system will be the American Psychological Association (APA) style. This implies including the source of references in the paragraph and not at the foot of the page. In the same way, the bibliography presented at the end of the document will contain only what is cited in it, in alphabetical order, respecting the APA format in terms of punctuation and complete data of the cited work. Whenever possible, the DOI will be included for each reference.

The author's responsibility is to cite all the sources that support the content of their work without omitting any of them. If the author includes part of the material published in another medium in the content, they should use self-citation.

Mercados y Negocios does not charge the authors any fee for the submission of manuscripts or fees for publishing articles.
